Although Brie Larson hasn't posted on her social media accounts to confirm it, the Fortnite season 4 trailer does seem to all-but-confirm that the superhero character Paradigm is being played by the Captain Marvel star.

The Fortnite season 4 trailer also confirms the long-rumoured detail that a liquid metal substance called Chrome is invading the island and consuming everything in the new season.

Plus, the title card at the end of the trailer confirmed that Marvel's Spider-Gwen is coming to Fortnite for season 4 (presumably as part of the battle pass). Read on to learn more about the new season!

When did Fortnite season 3 end?

Fortnite season 3 ended on Saturday 17th September 2022.

Yesterday was your last chance to complete all those Fortnite season 3 quests, basically! So if you didn't unlock that Darth Vader or Indiana Jones skin yet, you might be waiting a while for another chance.

When does Fortnite season 4 start?

Fortnite season 4 starts on Sunday 18th September 2022, Epic Games has confirmed on the game's official website. That's today!

Epic has been even more quiet than usual regarding the changing of the seasons this time around, but we'd expect the new version of the game to drop very soon.

What time does Fortnite season 4 start in the UK?

Epic confirmed in a blog post that Fortnite server downtime began at 2am ET on 18th September. That's the exact at moment at which season 3 ended and Epic started patching season 4 into the game.

Here in the UK, that means the game was shut down at around 7am BST on the morning of Sunday 18th September.

We'd expect Fortnite season 4 to be playable two to three hours later, so let's take a guess at 10am BST for the UK start time for Fortnite season 4. If an exact time gets announced, though, we'll let you know.

Will there be a Fortnite live event?

At the time of writing, Epic Games has not confirmed a Fortnite live event to bridge the gap between Fortnite season 3 and Fortnite season 4.

Of course, these things tend to be announced at the very last minute. We'll be sure to let you know if a live event is confirmed. In the meantime, you can watch the previous live event (which sat between Fortnite season 2 and Fortnite season 3).

Fortnite season 4 news

Time for a recap of the story so far, in terms of Fortnite season 4 marketing!

Confirming that Paradise will be the title of Fortnite season 4, Epic Games put up the following image on its official website.

This title card was the first morsel of official news that we saw pertaining to the next Fortnite season — at least through the usual official channels, that is.

Fortnite season 4 is titled Paradise.
Fortnite season 4 is titled Paradise. Epic Games

Despite the concept of paradise generally being seen as a positive thing, we're getting a bit of a sinister vibe from that image above. The murky colours of the background and the slight blurring on the font are enough to make us think that everything might not be quite what it seems in this so-called paradise.

Since revealing that title card, Epic Games has gradually been lifting the lid on Fortnite season 4, very slowly revealing morsels of news about the incoming update. We don't know a lot, but what we do know sounds very different to the chilled-out Vibin' theme of the previous season.

You might've seen, for example, a video of this 3D billboard in New York. It's been doing the rounds on social media for the last couple of days!

Also, in a grammatical nightmare of Twitter thread, the Fortnite marketing team recently teased: "it Consumes everytHing... fRee them... but watch Out... you Might be nExt".

Look at the capitalised letters in that sentence and you'll see that it spells CHROME, which seems to be a key difference between Fortnite season 4 and what came before it.

We know that Fortnite season 4 is subtitled Paradise, but it sounds a lot like this this paradise will be filled with liquid metal that spreads around the map and consumes everything in its path. This echoes what happened with the billboard, too.

Fortnite season 4 leaks

In the rumour mill, the following image has been circulating online for a while now. Thanks to that, fans have known for a while Fortnite season 4 will have something to do with this eerie image of a hand emerging from that chrome-like substance.

Eagle-eyed fans believe that this hand belongs to Paradigm, one of the in-game superhero-like characters known as The Seven. It has been rumoured/predicted that famous Fortnite fan Brie Larson could be playing Paradigm in the game, which now seems to have been all-but-confirmed with the trailer we included at the top of this page.

Also, we can't be the only ones getting a Terminator vibe off of that concept art, so we wouldn't be surprised to see the Arnold Schwarzenegger film franchise getting some kind of nod here. You can bet there will continue to be a steady stream of pop-culture characters in the game, regardless of whether that prediction comes true.

Fortnite season 4 trailer

As Epic started to confirm the rumours about a chrome-like substance invading the island in Fortnite season 4, the developers began sharing unsettling live-action trailers like this a week ago:

"It consumes everything", the caption teases, and the clip itself sees a bowl of real-life cereal suddenly being consumed by a chrome-like liquid metal substance. Yeah, this paradise is looking worse all the time!

Fortnite season 4 battle pass rumours

Bringing it back to superheroes for a second, fans on Twitter seemed convinced ahead of time that Marvel's Spider-Gwen (a parallel universe version of Gwen Stacey who took on the Spider-Woman mantle herself) will be swinging into Fortnite as part of the Fortnite season 4 battle pass. This also seems to have been confirmed by the Fortnite season 4 trailer.

Of course, a smattering of Spidey action will always make sense in Fortnite, especially considering that Epic Games already built web-slinging into the game a few months ago.

Further to that, another set of Twitter posts had led fans to believe that the Goth Meowscles outfit will be coming to the game as part of the Fortnite season 4 battle pass.

In terms of celebrity Fortnite skins, let's not forget that Fortnite already revealed Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson as the actor behind The Foundation, leader of The Seven, so it doesn't feel like there's any limit to the level of talent that Epic Games can attract to portray Fortnite characters.

As we learn more about who/what will feature in Fortnite season 4, we'll be sure to let you know! Keep checking back and we'll round up the latest happenings here.
